Windmill Point was established in 1933 at the head of the Detroit River. You can access this cast iron, conical tower by car. The art deco design is indicative of the 1930's architecture. The light is still active.
Driving Directions: Grosse Pointe, I-75 to I-375 To East Jefferson Ave. Follow Jefferson to Alter Road to lighthouse.
Note: Windmill Point Yacht Club was formed as the Detroit River Racing Association on March 11, 1944, to promote Unlimited Power Boat Racing on the Detroit River. In April of 1981, the Membership purchased the property in Fair Haven and moved in during June.  If you would like directions to W.P.Y.C. you may visit http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll?qscr=mrfn
